Comparison Of White Maeng Da vs Green Maeng Da

Kratom comes in a wide variety of strains that are dependent on the vein color and where it is grown. One of the most popular is the Maeng Da strain which comes in red, green, or white. We put together this guide to help you understand the similarities and differences of White Maeng Da vs Green Maeng Da.

White Maeng Da vs Green Maeng Da

Choosing a white versus green strain is a user preference depending on the potency of the kratom strain being used. There are no better strains or colored veins than others. You can use information or a trial and error method to see the different strains and the support they offer you. Everyone is different, and for this reason, you can never say one strain is better over the other. It is simply finding the strain that provides the support you are looking for.

What Does Vein Color Mean In The Kratom World?

Kratom can have three veins naturally, white, green, and red. Despite having different colored veins and names, they are all from the same plant, Mitragyna speciosa. This herb is grown and harvested in many areas across Southeast Asia.

The veins of kratom are dependent on when the herb is picked. As the plant matures, the vein color in the middle of the leaves darkens. This darkening shows where the alkaloids within the plants have undergone maturity and increased in potency.

Understanding White Vein Kratom

White-veined kratom is harvested at the earliest point in the life cycle. The vein in the center of the plant is a very light color and has the lowest concentration of alkaloids. The alkaloids, 7-hydroxymitragynine and mitragynine, will increase in potency as the plant matures. The plant is picked by trained farmers, washed clean, and then it must be stored in a cool place, out of direct sunlight to prevent the composition of the alkaloids from changing. The kratom leaves are ground into a powder and then used to create various forms of kratom.

Understanding Green Vein Kratom

Green-veined kratom is picked at the midpoint through the herb’s lifecycle. The vein in the center of the leaves has darkened, and the alkaloid content has increased. The alkaloids have become more potent and the herb can be used in different strains. The farmers then wash the plant and may hang it out to dry, in or out of direct sunlight. It is then washed and dried again before being used to make a powder.

Other Veins

Kratom, if left to pick at peak maturity, can then turn to a red-veined leaf and then be used. Kratom naturally occurs in white, green, or red. Using specialized techniques and fermenting, there can be a rarer color of kratom, yellow. While yellow kratom is less common and difficult to find, red is readily available and comes in a variety of strains.

A Look At White Maeng Da Kratom

White Maeng Da kratom is grown across Southeast Asia and Thailand. Using a specialized grafting technique between the Indo and Thai herbs, the Maeng Da kratom was made. This version translates from Thai as “pimp grade” which indicates a high level of potency.

White Maeng Da is a Maeng Da strain that is made using the white-veined kratom. This means the kratom leaves used are picked early in their lifecycle with a lower number of alkaloids, 7-hydroxymitragynine and mitragynine. Despite being made with white-veined kratom, the strain has a higher level of potency than other white strains. The strain and the location where it is grown will contribute to its higher than average potency.

A Look At Green Maeng Da Kratom

Green Maeng Da kratom is grown across Southeast Asia and Thailand as well. It is made from the same herb as white-veined, but it is left to mature longer. Green-veined kratoms are a “middle” grade potency as they are picked before peak maturity.

Green Maeng Da is the same strain as the White Maeng Da, but the kratom leaves have been left to grow longer, thus increasing their potency and the number of alkaloids present. It features the same “pimp grade” strain with a higher alkaloid count. With the strain’s increased potency and the more mature leaves, the Green Maeng Da is more potent than the white varieties.

Final Say

When it comes down to it, there is no right answer when comparing White Maeng Da vs Green Maeng Da Kratom. You have to decide which is best for you. You should never take the advice of another user. Before making a purchase, we ask all of our customers to discuss kratom with their family doctor. They are the only ones who can give you advice on kratom.
